That's me "hard at work" at Wayside Manor. Since the completion of the project in June, I have moved on to assignments at the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors, L3/Titan (defense contractor), and, most recently, Heckler & Koch (international arms dealer - far less exciting than it sounds).

Also, the Sylvan Learning Center where I teach has been sold to corporate, which means I can look forward to a few more bennies and regular raises.

In November, Tanya and I attended the Anime USA convention in Tyson's Corner. Interesting group of people to say the least.

Afterwards, we went for Chinese food and found a top-end digital camera on the road after we ate. Easy to tell who the owner is from the photos, but no contact info and no way for me to download the photos. Posted a lost and found on Craigslist and the Anime USA forum, but no hits, so I'm going to buy a cradle for the camera and claim it as my own.

Because our apartment complex was under new ownership and converting to condos, Tanya and I moved to a new apartment this summer. A little more space and a little less rent, so we can't complain. Plus, we have two full bathrooms, a first for us, as well as the first time I've lived somewhere with two tubs. Also nice to have a mailbox that's on the way in.

Tanya's mother was giving away these sofas and Tanya's friend was interested. We snapped a couple of shots for her to see. I am there for size reference. (which means the sofa is larger than it appears)

I found a new friend this year in Warner Crocker, fellow Tablet PC enthusiast and blogger. We first met online at the Tablet PC Buzz.com forum and once we discovered we were only 60 miles apart, we just had to get together for a drink. Warner is also the artistic director for Wayside Theatre, and he hooked up me and Tanya with tickets to a wonderful performance of Sleuth. Great guy both online and in-person.

We visited Tanya's grandfather in Richmond after Thanksgiving. During the trip, we visited the Maymont Estate, which belonged to the most famous philanthropes in Richmond until they passed away and donated it to the city.

The Maymonts were fond of trees. Thus, there are a number of exotic trees on the estate that grow nowhere else in the United States.

This turtle was in a tank at the nearby nature center. It is really incredible how primitive it looks. Had to include it in the letter.
